Kozushima prides itself on its hospitality and the locals do their best to ensure that visitors to the island have a really great experience. The majority of the accommodations on the island are small guest houses and family-run bed and breakfasts that really allow you to get to know the owners. Due to the fact that ferries to the island may arrive at either Kozushima Bay or Tako Bay, it is very important that you be sure to let the owner of the place you plan to stay know your approximate time of arrival. Vacation House FamiliA

Run by a very kind, social, humorous, and super-welcoming Japanese couple, Vacation House FamiliA is one of the few bed and breakfasts on the island, located only a matter of minutes away from Kozushima Port and Maehama!

Each of their rooms is fitted with heaters and air conditioners, and all are uniquely themed, making, your stay there feel different every time! They provide hairdryers, face towels, toothbrushes, shavers, a customer refrigerator, washing machines, and wireless internet. On the outside, there is a barbeque deck, car parking (limited to one car), as well as a second-floor terrace from which you can see Kozushima’s cobalt blue ocean and stunning night sky! There is also a cafe/bar on the first floor where they offer snacks and drinks! They even provide pickup and drop-off services to and from the airport as well as Kozushima hot springs! What’s more, you can also use their showers after check out, and they will even store your luggage for you after your stay!

The owners, Ayano and Ken, love life and are very enthusiastic about Kozushima and its culture. From the best places to see the night sky, to the best places to enjoy local food and drinks, they know it all and are very eager to share it with you. They can even help you out in English as well. Guesthouse Teramachi is located in a quaint private house built back in the 80s in a unique style typical to the island. The owners then renovated and turned the building into a spacious guest house with a big, inviting shared space where you can meet and chat with other guests and visiting locals alike. It’s situated in the very center of Kozushima Village, only five minutes away from the beach! Teramachi offers three rooms that can accommodate up to three, four, and six guests, respectively. By default, they are used as co-ed dorms. However, depending on the number of guests at the time, the owners will do their best to accommodate your requests and let you use one of the rooms as a private room or convert it into a co-ed dorm for the period of your stay (note that renting out a whole room is a bit more expensive).

Though Teramachi doesn’t serve meals, there is a shared kitchen available. You can use the washing machine and dry your clothes on the rooftop terrace. Please keep in mind that you will need to bring your own toiletries. There is free WiFi available.

The name of the guest house literally means “The Temple District.” This refers to the proximity of the Tohibiki Temple and harks back to the days when the street along the temple would be filled with the chatter of people heading to and from the temple. The owners’ goal is to continue that tradition and make Teramachi a true meeting place for visitors and locals alike.

Nora

Nora is a lovely little guest house located away from the village along Miura Bay at the foot of Mt. Chichibu. It’s a cozy, quiet spot where you can hear the birds chirping during the day and gaze upon the clear starry sky at night. It’s a fantastic place to stay for anyone coming to Kozushima for some much-needed peace and quiet and to enjoy fishing, hiking, and long walks.

They offer three private rooms for up to two people each. The price includes two gorgeous meals, which will most definitely be a highlight of your stay: the fresh fish, locally grown vegetables, deep-fried meat, and soup are all fantastic thanks to the owner’s cooking skills and the miraculous effects of Kozushima’s water. Nora also operates as a cafe and is well-loved by the locals who often come all the way here for lunch, despite it being a bit remote.

Nora’s bathroom is equipped with body soap, shampoo with conditioner, and a dryer, so don’t worry about bringing your own. You can also use their face towels, but you will have to bring any additional toiletries with you. A shared fridge and washing machine (100 yen per use) are also available. They also have a parking lot for guests.

Kikunoya

Kikunoya is a small, family-run Japanese-style guest house with a total of four rooms. Located at the base of Mt. Tenjo amidst the island’s forest, this guest house provides an excellent view of the mountain. It is very peaceful and quiet, and you can often hear the sounds of Japanese nightingales and other island birds. Each season brings a variety of gorgeous flowers, making Kikunoya enjoyable all throughout the year!

Kikunoya takes pride in the meals they prepare. They use a variety of freshly caught fish and local island ingredients in all of their cooking, making your stay even more enjoyable. And if you already ate and simply need a place to stay, they offer cheaper plans without meals as well!

They provide hairdryers, face towels, toothbrushes, a customer refrigerator, WiFi, car parking (limited to three cars), and a washing machine with laundry soap sold separately for 100 yen. They also provide a pick-up and drop-off service to and from the airport.

If peace and quiet, mountains, forests, and delicious food are a must on your list, then you certainly need to consider Kikunoya as your place to stay while visiting Kozushima!
